Victoria Floods

Victoria Flood Updates (from Tourism Victoria)

Some areas of Victoria experienced flooding in January.

Flood waters continue to affect parts of northwest Victoria including Kerang and Swan Hill.

The majority of Victoria’s tourism businesses have not been directly impacted and are open to visitors.

The Grampians
The Grampians National Park is open, and a wealth of tourism experiences and accommodation is available in and around Wartook, Dunkeld and Halls Gap. Some tourist attractions in the park are, however, inaccessible. For detailed updates, including road and park access information, please visit the Parks Victoria and Grampians Tourism websites.

The Murray
Despite floods affecting some towns in the Murray region, most tourist destinations along the Murray River, including Echuca-Moama and Mildura, have not been affected and are open to visitors.

Both the Murray Valley and Loddon highways are open to all traffic, with a detour between Cohuna and Kerang.

Gippsland
The Princes Highway is open and accessible with the exception of a short detour at Morwell. Some minor traffic delays may be experienced as you travel in this area.

Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road is open.

Visitors should contact their travel agent, accommodation, attraction or tour provider directly for concerns about any current or upcoming bookings before considering changing their plans.

Currently, certain areas of northwest Victoria are experiencing flooding. Flood affected tourism regions and towns include:

The Murray – Kerang and Swan Hill. This flooding is localised and the vast majority of Melbourne and Victoria’s regions are unaffected.

Open and trading
Victoria’s eastern regions – Gippsland, the Mornington Peninsula, Phillip Island, the High Country and the Yarra Valley and the Dandenong Ranges have not experienced flooding.

The Great Ocean Road is open to motorists, and regional townships such as Bendigo, Ballarat and Daylesford are open for business as usual, and are accessible via roads and freeways.

Key tourism attractions such as Sovereign Hill, the Phillip Island Penguin Parade, the Twelve Apostles, Puffing Billy and Wilsons Promontory are open and visitors are welcome.

The Great Ocean Road is open.  
 
Some areas of the Grampians National Park have been reopened. For detailed updates, visit the Parks Victoria website.

Access between Melbourne and Adelaide is open. Detours are in place and visitors need to allow extra time for this journey.

The main roads into Halls Gap and Wartook are open and visitors are welcome. The road between Halls Gap and Dunkeld is currently closed.

Detours are currently in place for travel between Bendigo and Mildura, and from Bendigo to Swan Hill.

The Murray Valley Highway is open with the exception of the stretch between Cohuna and Swan Hill, due to flooding at Kerang.
