Overview

Just 20km from Hobart en route to Port Arthur is Tasmania's famous outdoor model village, Old Hobart Town. Winner of multiple awards since opening in 1991, the village is a large scale 1:16 model of Hobart as it was in the 1820s. Covering an area about the size of 2 tennis courts, it has been built from original plans and gives an accurate depiction of old Hobart's streets, waterfront and buildings of the era. A unique experience, it tells the story of a capital city in its infancy and gives visitors a new perspective of Hobart's place in Australian history.
