South Molle Island is an accessible resort Island in the heart of the Whitsunday Island group in Queensland, Australia

South Molle is the largest of a small group of ‘Molle Islands’ which are virtually joined; it is possible to walk across to Mid Molle almost all of the time.

The island was known to the local Aborigines who called it Whyrriba which some sources say meant 'stone axe'. After European settlement South Molle island was primarily used for sheep and cattle grazing until recent development – the Island can now accommodate over 600 guests in a range of lodgings and features the usual Whitsunday islands activities such as including golf, squash, cycling, day or night tennis, a gym, dingy hire, sailing, wind surfing, waterskiing, boat trips to the Reef, and scuba diving.

South Molle is a very pretty island with kilometres of white sandy beaches, crystal clear water and 420 hectares of National Park which provides beautiful walks with stunning views.

Located eight kilometres north east of Shute Harbour, South Molle Island is only a 20 minutes launch ride from the Mainland.
